Encourage and efficiently manage the time one spends with his/her family.

Scope

The inspiration for this application is derived from my personal life where it's a challenge to spend quality time with my family. I realized that this challenge is faced by many who struggle to enjoy with their respective families due to lack of time management. The FamilyTime mobile application focuses on offering a more clear and robust way to keep oneself updated with each family member's schedule and organize events that are convenient for all. This will help improve the quality of time one spends with his/her family without any substantial hardship.

Preliminary Research

I conducted a preliminary research for understanding what challenges people currently face while managing their family time. It gave me clarity on "Should I even invest time ideating and designing this application?". It also helped me formulate a list of features that should fit user's needs.

Analysis of data captured using the above research gave me insights into user expectations and formulate a set of features that are important from users perspective.

Instant Free-Time Check

This feature allows you to check the overlapping available slots for all family members. This can be the starting point for planning your event.

Manage Family

Using this feature you can add/remove any family member. You can also customize names for each of the family member such it is more personalized.

Import from Google Calender

Google calender is the most widely used app to maintain personal schedule. You can directly import all your existing events to the application.

Schedule Family Events

Schedule an Event by specifying details like name, description, date/time, location, etc. You can also invite specific family members for the event.

Customize Profile

Users have the floxibility to customize their own profile including displayed name, profile picture, mobile number and email address.

Sleek & Minimal

The app has a very sleek design based on a specific theme that is eye pleasing. It includes minimal interactions where each screen serves a specific purpose.

To incorporate the above features, I developed quick mockups to conceptualize the flow and design of the application. Creating quick wireframes helps me in getting ideas out on the paper and iterate better to come up with enhanced solutions.
